Footworks Dance Co. was founded by Alison Hagan in January 2005.  We also have guest teachers from time to time.  Read below to find out more.

Alison Hagan BA(Hons)
IDTA (AF)
PMA.L
Licenced Hoopgirl Instructor

Alison began her dance training the tender age of three when she began to learn ballet, tap, modern and stage.  Before her parents knew what was happening she was having lessons every night and participating in examinations and festivals. At the age of 15 she discovered freestyle and went on to win over 50 trophies in a year.

Her teaching career began at the age of 16 with work experience at Cliftons Dance Acadamy in Grimsby.  Keith and Judy Clifton spotted her potential and put her through her teaching exam.

Realising that dance was her life; Alison set off for University in 1997 and spent three years intensively studying dance at Bretton Hall, Wakefield.  During these three years at Wakefield Alison peformed as both a contemporary artist and a show dancer.

In 1998, she was appointed as dance captain and choreographer at Mustang Sallys.  Graduating from University in June 2000 Alison walked right into her first professional dancing job at Butlins Skegness (where she met her husband).  This job gave her an opportunity to perform three times a night in shows as diverse as Pantomime to Salsa!

From here Alison went on to be company choreographer for Renowned Holidays, an entertainer in Lanzarote and a TV presenter in Italy.  After several years of travelling and living in everything from beautiful warm apartments to cold caravans; Alison decided to settle down and go back to what she loves.

She began teaching 100 children a week at Stagecoach in Basingstoke which gave her opportunity to go back to Lanzarote for seven weeks teaching for First Choice Stage School and also to see her choreography on a West End stage.

During this time, Alison became the manager of Curves for Women in Farnborough and Yateley, but after a couple of years she realised that once again she wanted to dedicate her life to dancing.

February 23rd, 2005 was the first official class that Alison taught as Footworks Dance Co. and since that day the company has gone from strength to strength.  More classes have started and Parties and Workshops are in popular demand.  In 2006, Alison put 240 students through Street Dance exams with the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) and she is also a  commitee member of SDI (Street Dance International)

Prior to the birth of her daughter, Tia May, in October 2007 she was a part-time dance tutor at Farnborough College of Technology and part-time PPA teacher at Hook Juniors School.  Recent projects include the choreography of "Jack and the Beanstalk", a year six production at Hook Juniors School, the choreography of "Sweet Charity" for Second Year Performing Arts students and "Happily Ever After" a pantomime which Alison choreographed, directed and co-wrote with the First years on the National Diploma Performing Arts course at Farnborough College.

Alison has most recently fallen in love with Hoop dance and has become a licenced Hoopgirl instructor.  She took part in an intensive training course in London which was run by Hoopgirl herself Christabel Zamour and was assisted by the legendary Sharna Rose and Diane Defries.

Alison is looking forward to an eventful 2010 with performances at the Hartley Wintney festival and the Royal Albert Hall!
